Our voyage beyond the misty curtain of Russell Mulcahy’s filmography continues with a double feature of big boys and their big toys - two gun-centric thrillers with euphoric moments of insanity. RICOCHET shot right into our hearts with its bonkers revenge plot (John Lithgow gets obsessed with supercop Denzel and ruins his life!!), whereas SILENT TRIGGER doesn’t make the most of a sick gothic skyscraper location and Dolph Lundgren as a stoic sniper. All the while, Mulcahy’s operatic style is consistently stunning, and the phallic weapon imagery is off the hook. What Mulcahy movie did we wrongfully exclude from the mini-marathon? Let us know in the comments … or John Lithgow might come after U next and make U shoot at a clown performing in a children’s dance revue in Griffith park!! U never know!!
