The Big Boom Theory: two bloody depressing movies about what the beginning of the end of the world might look like. O i'm sorry, are u in a nice joyous mood today??!! Screw u so much, because Noah and Eliza want to watch the scariest atomic PSAs of all time.
1984's THREADS is an unshakeably terrifying what-if made with the BBC, combining kitchen-sink family drama and a projection of how nuclear holocaust could affect the UK. 1986's WHEN THE WIND BLOWS is similarly bleak, only with adorable animated characters and additional dramatic irony, being based on a cute-looking picture book.
Shit gets real when the team inevitably draws comparisons between these sad, sad movies and our own sad, sad 2025 circumstances. lets start worrying and hate the frickin bomb again! it sucks everything sucks !
*Content Warning*: This episode contains discussion of graphic violence, rape and genocide in both the contexts of an imagined nuclear holocaust and graphic parallels to real modern day conflicts.
